Waking up early we managed to take some pictures of the sunrise in Langkawi, our hotel room is facing an easterly direction.
We walked to the hotel lobby, about 150 metres away (down a steep hill) and indulged in breakfast, Eunice thought the food here was quite bland, but I think that may be her asian taste buds and a westernized-asian crusine, as they had a mixture of both western and asian foods. We'd booked in to go for a spa and massage this morning at the Anura Spa Center, so we caught one of the shuttle buses there, as it was at the far end of the complex. We spent about four and a half hours getting a spa, sauna, massage and pedicure.
After returning to the room, we went to the concierge to book tickets to the cable car ride to the top of Langkawi; this is about the only attraction that is close to us, and earlier in the day we had booked for a sunset cruise and to hire a car for tomorrow for the day. A shuttle bus took us around the corner to the base of the cable car station of Mount Mat Cincang, approximately 700 metres above sea level. After the Swiss Alps, however, it was not as grandous, and some bad weather set in quite quickly while we were at the top, so we headed down again, where we both bought some souviners of the trip.
Around 3.30PM we headed back to the hotel, walking about half way before we caught another shuttle bus; with the heat, humidity and extra weight I was now carrying, I was pretty happy about this. A quick shower later we were called to the front desk as they told us our tour had arrived, but when we rushed there, we were told it would be another 5 minutes before it came.
The trip to the harbour took about 35 minutes in a cramped mini-bus; there were another couple from our hotel, and the driver said about another 10 couples we would be meeting there. Upon arrival we took a small water taxi to the boat, as they harboured in deeper water before the crew started offering some drinks.
We saw some spectacular scenery around the islands, although we were only confined to a small area, Eunice was keen to try the off-boat spa, which entailed sitting on a knotted rope in the ocean, being dragged by the boat; at one point when she was getting down, I thought she was going to come off as she started walking the wrong way, but eventually got there, and the crew member helping her showed me a sigh of relief.
The cruise also include dinner, and the crew used a small BBQ on the side of the boat to cook some satay chicken, beef, rendang chicken, and a few other dishes.
The sunset was spectacular; as some clouds were around the break up the light, and soon after we headed back to the dock, and a water taxi ride and mini-bus journey we were back at the hotel.
