We awoke early this morning, although Eunice had been up into late in the night, we still needed to pack some odds and ends for our short trip to Langkawi, in the North-East of Malaysia, a short distance from South Thailand. After Babe made us some breakfast, Lawrence called a cab for us, with his friend Mr. Chong at the wheel - the taxis are highly unreliable in Malaysia, and Babe and Lawrence always call Mr. Chong for long or important trips.

The ride to the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) took around 45 minutes, being on the other side of the international airport, and we arrived in plenty of time to catch the flight; in fact we waited in the terminal longer than we fly, with the Air Asia flight eventually taking off 35 minutes late, for a less than one hour flight. Eunice was asleep by the time we got inside the aircraft, and awoke half an hour later angrily asking why it was taking so long to take off; I told her to look out the window as the clouds were passing by.

When we arrived in Langkawi, we grabbed some brochures on the sights to be seen, and turned down some cheaper rental cars - at the time we were still tossing up whether to get a car to drive around the island, or to catch taxis here and there. After we located our bag, bought some duty free, and had a look aroundn the relatively small airport, we decided to catch a cab to the hotel Berjaya. The driver was pretty friendly, and Eunice and he chatted in Malay with him telling us a few sights to see and what to avoid.

The hotel itself, after a 20 minute drive, was a magnificent specticle; Eunice informed me that this is a 5 star hotel again, however due to the conversion rate the complete holiday, airfare and accomodation for 4 days was less than one night in the Venice hotel! The resort is spread over a fair distance, with some of the chalets on the beach and many others located on the hill, our chalet was located half way up the hill, however the hotel runs shuttle buses up and down on a regular basis.

We unpacked, and I spotted the first monkey - there are notices everywhere to leave your doors and windows locked, otherwise monkeys will steal food and (possibly) valuables. Eunice was keen to head down to the beach as she hadn't seen water (to swim in) for the last month - so we went down and ended up at the pool, as there was a bar in the middle and had a couple of drinks. It closed around 6PM, so we went further to the beach, around 50 metres away from the pool and had a quick dip.

Coming back to the room we discussed dinner and had a shower, but Eunice was exhausted after her late night(s) and early mornings over the last few days and fell asleep whil watching TV; I'm probably not too far behind her with a few glasses of Duty-Free Scotch under my belt!

Tomorrow Eunice has booked a Spa and Facial for the two of us, not something I would have planned myself, but I'll go with the flow to relax here; I'm hoping we can get a car and explore some of the island outside the hotel resort.
